How to enter numbers and decimals

Numeric fields accept either a comma or a period as the decimal separator.

Do not enter thousands separators, currency symbols, percent signs or spaces. In percentage fields, enter only the number, for example 26 or 26.5. Quantity fields may accept whole or fractional numbers when stated by the tool.

To avoid ambiguity, a value such as 1,000 is interpreted as a decimal number, not as one thousand.

Quantities, contracts and percentages

Quantities

Stocks may support fractional quantities. Fields representing Options or Futures contracts should use whole numbers unless the tool states otherwise.

Percentages

Enter only the number: for 26% type 26; for 0.5% type 0.5 or 0,5.

Optional fields

A field marked optional may be left blank. Do not enter 0 to stand in for an unknown value unless zero is genuinely correct.

Currencies

Do not type symbols such as €, $ or £ into numeric fields. Currency is selected directly in the tool when the calculation requires it.
